What a great day to see a show, as two monsters of rock Korn and Alice in Chains were to perform at Keybank Pavilion in Burgettstown Pa. The day started off with a thirty-minute rain delay as the skies opened on the waiting concert goers. The show was packed for a very energetic night as Fever 333 and Underoath were the supporting acts for show. This night would offer the best of new rock and old, having such an eclectic mix of bands on the bill.

Fever 333 started off the show with their fast-paced energetic antics. The band ripped through One of Us, getting the crowd into the show immediately capturing everyone’s attention. Vocalist Jason Aalon Butler went directly into the crowd during the song climbing over top seats making his way to almost the soundboard. On his way to returning to the stage, the band started playing Made in America, which prompted Butler to make a detour and begin to climb the rigging to make his way to a hanging American flag and began waving the flag. The band continued to rip through their set where Butler, dropped trow and was running across the stage in his underwear. For all the antics the band was by far the attention grabber for the night.

Underoath was up next, packing the stage with their full line, including keyboards, and additional percussion to kick off the set. This Florida natives were full of energy, headbanging and pounding through favorites Rapture, and Wake Me. This band fit in great with the line up with their own blend of rock.

Alice in Chains took the stage to a video screen displaying an eyeball with two irises, and the first chord of Angry Chair blaring. This was my first time seeing the band live, and I have to say vocalist William DuVall sounded amazing on Man in the Box, and Them Bones. He is the perfect filling for the late Layne Staley. The band’s setlist was a mix of classics like We Die Young, Would?, and Rooster along with newer songs Rainer Fog, and Check My Brain. This band has forever emblazed themselves as one of the kings of grunge and rock.

Korn wrapped up the show for the night. The band kicked things off with Here to Stay, leading right into Blind. The stage was dressed in a mirrored background which distorted the band members reflections leading to a great eerie effect. Along with LED lights adorned across all their amplifiers it made for quite a sight to see. The band played through You’ll Never Find Me, which is one of two recently released singles by the band, before jumping into Twisted Transistor. One of the standout performances was a medley of Shoots and Ladders that seen the band at the end play through a few measures of One by Metallica. Other crowd favorites played this night were, Freak on a Leash, Make Me Bad, and Coming Undone, before wrapping the show on Falling Away.
This was a star-studded show and I highly recommend going to catch a show if the tour comes near your town. Where can you see a mix of new rock accompanied by two very seasoned veterans of the music scene. Korn and Alice in Chains will be touring till September 9th where the tour will wrap in Mountain View, California.
